Week 3
Into the Forest!
Keeping strong with a hike into the mighty forest!
Day 1
Projects began Hide-and-Seek Forest School with the Red, Yellow, and Blue teams learning about camouflage with a really fun activity, they did a great job finding the sneaking animals! Creators read If You Find a Leaf and made paper bag leaf necklaces. Discovery class became Night Forest Detectives and learned about nocturnal animals from Hoot the owl. Engineers began the Forest Forensics Lab with learning about animal tracks and the Purple, Orange, Green, and Silver teams making their own in clay! Innovators became Forestry Rangers learned about the history of wolves in Yellowstone, how they disappeared and successfully got reintroduced back. Studio Art got to make clay forest animals and beaded necklaces. Today in Cooking class, Teen Voyagers and Yak Apprentices made spring rolls. They carefully wet their rice paper, then wrapped all their veggies inside. It was delicious and nutritious! Our campers had an exciting time taking on the Bean Bag Challenge in Games, completing fun coordination tasks like clapping, jumping, spinning, and even doing burpees before making a catch. They also challenged themselves by tossing bean bags through different-sized rings made from a ladder and hula hoops taped together, building accuracy and focus. It was wonderful to see campers encourage one another, celebrate their successes, and have fun while improving their movement skills!














Day 2
Today in Play the Red, Yellow, and Blue teams played 'Sleeping Bear.' The sleeping bear rested in their den guarding a pile of honey pots (bean bags). The rest of the group tiptoed forward to steal a honey pot. When the bear heard them, they woke up and growled. The campers then froze. When the bear tagged someone, that camper then became the new bear. It was a super fun game! Creators got to read I Hear You Forest and made their own little forests in shoe box dioramas, they look super cool! Projects got to make their own little bugs out of pipecleaners and built small bug hotels for them, the little critters are all checked. Discovery got to dissect fake owl pellets and learn all about them from Hoot. Teen Voyagers took on the Bean Bag Challenge in Games class today, they did such a good job! Meanwhile, the Purple Team enjoyed playing a variety of board games, having lots of fun! The Orange, Silver, and Green teams made mini pizzas using english muffins and the air fryer in Cooking class. Campers got to pick their pizza toppings and enjoy with teammates! Studio Art got to paint the clay animals they made yesterday, they look so pretty now! Engineers spent their time in the Forest Forensic Lab learning about scat by making fake verisons of it out of clay, gross but cool! Innovators learned all about the fungal networks in forests and got to make their own little network web out of yarn, they had a fun-gi time!















Day 3
The Red, Yellow, and Blue teams played a group circle game called ‘Down by the Banks’ in Play class, it was super fun! Creators got to read The Very Busy Spiders and got to make spider webs with glitter and glue with help from the volunteers. Projects class continued Forest School by making one of five animals from the Amazon Rainforest out of paper, then making fun animal noises while showing them to others! Discovery used their detective skills to learn about bat's echolocation through a game of telephone, and making little bats! The Orange, Green, Purple, and Silver teams got to learn about food webs in Innovators with yarn. Engineers got to examine faux fur, feathers, and hair samples under magnifying glasses for their Forest Forensic Lab. Studio Art got to paint bird houses or build shadowboxes out of shoe boxes. In Games class, our campers were put to the test with a series of exciting cup challenges! They partook in 'Knock the Cup Off', 'Cup Tower Challenge', and 'Catch the Cup'. These fun activities kept everyone engaged while building confidence, encouraging cooperation, and creating unforgettable camp memories. Today in Cooking class, Yak Apprentices and Teen Voyagers made homemade chocolate chip cookies in the air fryer. Campers mixed their ingredients by hand and baked them in the air fryer. They were delicious! Adorable rabbits and bunnies came to Recess for pets and cuddles, everyone loved them!














Day 4
The Red, Yellow, and Blue teams got to play a game called 'Whoo is Calling?' in Play class. Everyone sat in a circle with their backs facing the center, one camper was selected to be the 'owl'. The owl hoots, and the rest of the group tries to correctly guess who made the sound without looking. It was such a hoot! Discovery got to learn about fireflies and how they communicate to each other using their lights. The Forest Detectives then got to make their own paper fireflies, they're amazing! Creators got to listen to the book The Curious Little Owl, then make their own little owls out of pinecones and cotton balls. They made adorable little owls! Projects got to partake in the sensory lab in forest school; see though spy holes to identify animals, listen to nature noises, touch mysterious forest items in a bag, and smell scents from forest jars. The Orange, Green, and Silver teams made homemade hummus in Cooking. They blended their chickpeas with garlic, fresh lemon juice, and oil, then enjoyed their snack with veggie sticks they sliced themselves. Yummy! Engineers got to make a 'crime scene' in the forest forensic lab, naming an animal that left evidence like prints and fur. Innovators learned about what's happening in the Amazon Rainforest, then brainstorming ways to protect animals in the forest. They gave such creative and helpful solutions! Studio Art painted watercolor forests, very pretty! Today in Games class our Teen Voyagers had their turn at the cup challenges! They did 'Knock the Cup Off', 'Cup Tower Challenge', and 'Catch the Cup'. They did an excellent job! The Purple team had a blast playing board games, super fun!











Day 5
Creators got to make a fun tree craft, making pretty paper trees. The Red, Yellow, and Blue teams got to decorate paper crowns in Projects class. Discovery finished their stay at the night forest detective agency with learning about flying squirrels and raccoons. They had a great time making racoon paper bag puppets! Play class got to play 'Whoo is Calling' again, it was still super fun! The Purple, Orange, Green, and Silver teams got to pitch their own conservation idea in Innovators class. They were amazing ideas! Engineers got to make their own mystery crime scenes, super cool! Studio Art had lots of fun arts and crafts to choose from, but the snake craft was fantastic! Games got to have open gym time, playing basketball, volleyball, or creating their own games. Teen Voyagers made chocolate chip cookies in Cooking class. They made their own dough, then rolled them into balls, then cooked them in the air fryer. They looked and smelled delicious. Everyone had fun with the scooters during Recess!
